Snapping turtles: some of the most dinosaur-like reptiles in existence today. They are excellent scavengers in pond, river, and lake environments, keeping the water clean from carrion and the nutrients cycling back into the environment.
(One May, I found a giant snapping turtle climbing the 5’ tall chicken-wire fence surrounding my garden, his/her weight bending the fence so much that the turtle was nearly upside down. So impressive!)
This woodcut was printed with nontoxic vegetable oil-based inks in a reduction technique for my 2026 calendar. Printed on Rives BFK. Block measures 7 × 10”. Limited, varied edition of 9. Contact if you might be interested in a white or lighter background; I have a few of those in the addition.
