odiorne
Odiorne Point State Park is one of the most fun places to explore the New Hampshire coast. You honestly never know what you’ll find there. There’s an ancient underwater (“drowned”) forest that you can see at low tide and spooky old barracks scattered throughout the upland woods. And once we found a fully intact basking shark dead on the rocks (and I’ve been obsessed with finding another ever since).
But I made this print because of those grasses. Those marsh grasses, which filter runoff and pollution, serve as habitat for native and migrating birds, and buffer the shore from flooding or extreme tides. Their critical services will be more and more important as the climate warms. Bonus: they’re so beautiful.
This reduction woodcut was printed with nontoxic vegetable oil based ink on legion stonehenge paper and measures 7.25x10.75” (paper measures 8.25x11.75”). Limited run of only 26.
10% of sales made from this print will be donated to the Seacoast Science Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program. A volunteer from this program once asked me to turn around on a beach to give a resting seal plenty of space. She was camped out all day guarding that seal. Gotta love that.
