Geum is a reduction woodcut inspired by a June trip to the Boothbay Botanic gardens in Maine. I couldn’t stop taking photos of the massive, cheerful block of tangerine geums. They look like small poppies, and I loved the shapes of the bud, the flower, and the spiky post-bloom seed pods.
This woodcut was printed in several layers of nontoxic vegetable oil-based inks, all from a single block, on fabriano rosespina paper. Block measures approx 14 × 18." Limited run of 22.
Due to the nature of the block printing process, colors and printing will vary slightly in each print.
